Shan/Tai Yai Tatoo Pattern Book

Eastern Burma

Ink drawings on mat lacquered paper.  Folded book form, with drawings on both sides.  Closed:  5½"x 14½."   Open:  !4½"x 90."
Late 19th or early 20th century.  This fascinating book of drawings and legends is frail, and has a few worm holes, but is in good condition overall.  Others that I have seen have fallen apart. The magical, good-luck symbols shown were used both in tattoos and painted on yantra shirts and cloths...SOLD
