MARLA MALLETT: TEXTILES Shoowa Raffia Skirt Kuba.  The Congo 26"x 56" Raffia cut-pile field, with border of  fine flat stitching. According to Schaedler, these festive garments were worn by only three women in the tribe:  the queen-mother, the king's first wife, and the king's first daughter.  This skirt is probably 40 to 50  years old.
