MARLA MALLETT

Kurdish Hakkari Kilim
Early 20th century
Southeastern Anatolia
Wool.  5' x 7'4"
Slit tapestry. This kilim is in good condition. I have acquired good ethnographic Kurdish Hartushi kilims from the Hakkari area whenever possible-- partly because they are such easy to use sizes and proportions, and  partly because they are sturdy, well-woven pieces made with glossy, long staple wools.  Some of these very attractive pieces have maintained a spontaneous, individual quality long after kilim traditions degenerated in other areas.   $1250
