MARLA MALLETT: TEXTILES Malatya Kilim Fragment Eastern Anatolia. Circa 1850 Wool, with cotton. 33"x 125" Slit tapestry. This lovely early Kurdish piece is in fragmented condition, and most of the worn areas--especially brown corroded areas--have been left alone. See the detail photo for a typical section. Thus the piece can only be hung for display, NOT used on the floor. The superb colors include a wonderful apricot which is quite unlike the garish synthetic oranges that were often used by weavers at the end of the 19th century. The lightest areas are partly white cotton, and partly creamy white wool. $2900 W-3611 Detail photo Larger full view photo Anatolian Kilims - 2 Tribal Textiles HOME Price List |
