Aydin/Cine Kilim
Western Anatolia. Late 19th century.

Slit tapestry. Wool. 2'4"x 9'8."
One might assume that this was just one panel from a two-part kilim, but there is no sign on the piece that it was ever stitched to another "half." Such pieces were used as dust covers over storage sacks in the nomads' tents, or as divan covers in their winter village houses. It is in very good condition, with just a few small expert reweaves.  $1800
