Kurdish Hakkari Kilim
SE Anatolia.  Circa 1900

Wool and cotton. 5'9"x 6'5." Slit tapestry. These so-called "Van" kilims were made on nomads' simple ground looms in two separate panels that were then joined. They are the most nearly square in proportion of all Anatolian kilims.  They are also the Anatolian kilims least likely to be rectangular!  This is a sturdy, durable kilim, in very good condition.  $750
