The imagery in Egyptian village tapestries ranges from sophisticated to charmingly naive.  Many of the pieces below were woven by teenagers, others by adults who began weaving as children. Several of the exquisite pieces below are from the Fouad El Awadly or Wissa Wassef workshops in Harrania.  For photos of weavers and some background on this flourishing tradition, check out our page on the Wissa Wassef experiment.
