MARLA MALLETT Japanese Tomesode Meiji period, 1890-1900. Woman's formal kimono in chirimen silk with yuzen dyed bonzai motif. Five mon (crests). 50"across the shoulders; 59"long. The back is plain, except for three white crests. The painted design is repeated on the lower lining. The upper lining is red benibana-dyed silk. This was probably a geisha's formal kimono.
