Japanese Hikizuri

1930s. Kyoto.
Young geisha's or maiko's silk and silver gauze kimono with gold couching. 50½"across shoulders; 74"long. Lined with white silk gauze. This geisha's kimono was cut longer than normal and provided with a lightly padded hem so that it could drape on the floor and swirl outwards. The sleeves were longer too, and the garment was worn slung low on the back of the neck. This piece is in very good condition.   $1400
