MARLA MALLETT: TEXTILES

Japanese Fukuro Obi
Mid 1960s. Kyoto.
12"x 162." Main ornamented area: 100."
Gold, silver and silk brocading. The dominant feature in this obi is the gold, almost three-dimensional brocading of the paulownia leaves; they have a "padded" look. The golds are a little lighter and brighter than in the photos. Red silk twill brocading fills the background.  The plain section of this obi is gold lamé;  the lining is a lighter colored gold lamé. It is in excellent condition.  $235  HOLD
