MARLA MALLETT Japanese Hikizuri Taisho Era, circa 1920. 52"across shoulders; 74"long. Young woman's kimono brocaded with gold metallic and white silk. Silver lamé lining. This furisode is cut very long and is furnished with a lightly padded hem for use by a performing geisha--to allow it to drape on the floor and swirl outward in a graceful arc during her dances.
