Pair of Skirt Panels China.  19th century Silk and gold embroidery on silk.  Silk satin stitch, silk seed stitch ("Forbidden Stitch") and gold couching on silk satin.  Woven ribbon trim. Portion shown above:  14"x 13½".  The embroidery on these two panels is in virtually perfect condition; the outer black borders are frayed.  Unfortunately, the lovely luster of the silks and gold metallic threads is not apparent in the photos.  The pieces may be framed either with or without the blue and white embroidered borders.  The pieces may be purchased either together or separately.
