Silk embroidery on cotton. Shirred, handmade silk braids are the distinguishing feature of this unusual embroidered piece. It would have been attached to the top of a baby carrier to cover the baby's head and protect him from the elements.  The Dong are a Chinese minority group closely related to the Miao, and have a well-deserved reputation for superb embroidery.  $145
