Chinese Woman's Paired Apron Wraparound Skirt  China. Circa 1890 Figured silk, embroidered with silk satin stitch, seed stitch ("Forbidden Stitch") and gold metallic couching.  The wide borders are also embroidered in satin stitch; these are edged with narrow  warp-patterned ribbons. The waistband is 46" long allowing the embroidered panel to overlap the plain panel as much as is needed.
