Miao Jacket with Embroidery Taijiang, Guizhou. China Cotton twill-weave jacket with silk satin-stitch embroidery on silk, gold couching and copper sequins. Tiny cross-stitch borders and borders of triangle-fold silk appliqué. 48½"across the shoulders; 36"long. 24"across underarms (48"chest measurement). Dragons, birds and flowers.  This dramatic, classic Taijiang jacket, with its exquisite embroidery, would have been worn by a Miao woman with the two front panels wrapped diagonally--the left side over the right.
