Shui Dress Guizhou, China.   Silk and horsetail embroidery on cotton.  53½"across shoulders; 35"long; 20"across underarms (40"chest measurement).  The chain-stitch and couched horsehair embroidery on this garment is exquisite. The soft, black hand-woven ground fabric has a faint pointed twill pattern.
