Skirt with Paired Aprons China. C'hing Dynasty. Late 19th century. Silk braid appliquéd on soft apricot-colored silk satin. This old Chinese skirt, has been altered, changed from the traditional wrap-around style to a more Western fashion, with an elastic waist. Identical large embroidered panels appear on the front and back, with small gored panels in between. The skirt is 30" long, with a 26 - 30 inch waist.  The panels could be framed if desired.  The appearance of this piece is good, but it is rather frail.   $325  E-1141  Full view photo below               Large detail photo
