Shar-i Sabz Suzani Uzbekistan. Contemporary Silk embroidery on silk/cotton. 104" x 72" The motifs are outlined with silk chain stitch, and filled with silk Bukhara couching (basma stitch)--all done very skillfully. Though a modern piece, this design has the power, spontaneity and playfulness that characterizes the best early pieces, along with superb embroidery.
