MARLA MALLETT: TEXTILES Lomi Akha Headdress Burma/China border area. 13"x 9"x 27" Silver ornaments, coins, and beads. This excellent headdress is silver, unlike most of the examples that we see on the market. It weighs nearly 7 pounds, an amazing load for a small woman to wear on her head! I have not polished the piece, knowing that collectors have differing ideas on how much polishing they like. The piece is thought to be 50 to 60 years old, with parts likely of differing ages. Most of the coins are from Yunnan Province, China. French coins dated 1922 and 1937 appear, also Indian coins dated 1905, 1906 and 1907.
